Benzoin Sumatera Resinoid 10% in DPG

Benzoin Sumatera has a warm, balsamic character shaped by sweet vanilla, dry spice, and a darker resinous undertone. Compared with the softer, milkier profile of Benzoin Siam, the Sumateran variety is more textured, spicy, and slightly smoky.

It brings warmth and depth to amber, gourmand, incense, leather, tobacco, and woody compositions. In floral formulas, it can soften sharper edges and create a smoother transition into the base. Its sweetness is present but not confectionary, making it especially useful when a formula needs richness without becoming overtly sugary.

Benzoin is often described as a natural fixative, but its role extends beyond longevity. It gives body to the drydown, supports more volatile materials, and creates continuity between different parts of the composition.
