Aldehyde C-12 MNA is a high-impact material that brings brightness, lift, and polished diffusion to a composition. Its character is distinctly aldehydic, with orange-citrus facets supported by cool metallic, waxy, and subtly fatty nuances.
At trace levels, it expands the opening and gives citrus or floral notes a more radiant, aerated quality. It can create the familiar sparkle of classical aldehydic florals, sharpen a modern cologne, or add clarity to clean musk and woody structures. Unlike a conventional citrus material, its effect continues into the heart, helping the composition retain energy beyond the initial opening.
Its strength requires restraint. An excess can quickly become sharp, fatty, metallic, or overtly soapy. For more precise evaluation and weighing, prepare a 1% or 10% dilution before introducing it gradually into the formula.
Aldehyde C-12 MNA should not be confused with Aldehyde C-12 Lauric. C-12 MNA is 2-Methylundecanal and generally presents a drier, less overtly citrus-peel character.
